John Talabot – Ƒin 0
My most anticipated album so far this year has been John Talabot’s Ƒin. Having been hooked to his brand of sun drenched vibes ever since I stumbled onto Matilda’s Dream I have been looking forward to a full length from him for aaages.
Ƒin is extremely hard to put into words and I’ve listened to it a good few times now! Don’t get me wrong it is EXCELLENT but just hard to place anywhere… I guess the way to think about his album is through kinds of atmosphere… you can’t help but feel you are taken to places far away and made to experiences feelings through his music. Yes I realise that sounds very wanky but its the truth. Take the first track Depak Ine which takes me deep into a tropical jungle with angsty synth action hanging heavy in the air. Then on Oro Y Sangre startling scream samples take us into some type of nightmare scenario.
The two tracks that JT has made with Pional are my favourites really (conveniently available to stream below…:)) Lovely electronic noises laden with feelings and an other worldly atmosphere all over.
I highly recommend buying this album and giving it the run through at least 5 times in a row.
