This incredible installation by Phillip K Smith III was built out in the Joshua Tree desert in California at the beginning of October. Over the course of just a few days the artist who’d turned a dishevled old wooden shed in the middle of nowhere into a beautiful seemingly transparent cabin had amassed huge worldwide acclaim for his new piece.
During the day the shed seems to be cut into see through layers due to the clever use of mirrors and that endless expanse of arid desert and crisp bule skies. Come night time though the shed evolves into another installation completely with its doorways and windows scrolling ever so slowly through an LED colourwheel.
Watch the video above for an interview with the artist as he takes you through the magic of what he’s put together.
