Slothboogie Summer Mix Series Part 3: KMG

Next up in the Summer Series mixes is myself, the SlothBoogie resident record shop dweller, and occasional Paxman, KMG.

Following stellar poolside efforts from Pat and Debonair I’ve taken a slightly different approach, instead focusing on light shimmering textures, and smooth synth led riffs, both of which lift my spirits much in the same way a fine summers day can. However, they’re often accompanied with walking bass lines and arenose MPC drum tracks, so it’s perhaps more of an evening summer mix, than mid afternoon….

Pour yourself a margarita, slap on some factor 6 oil, and settle in as the mercury begins to rise….

Don’t forget this means that Debonair’s mix is now up for free download!

Catch some more sunny vibes later tonight at the Queen of Hoxton as we take over the basement all night looooong!

Slothboogie @ Rolling Stock – 14/06/14

… well lady sunshine looks as though she’s turned up for her summer stint in London, and life in the city feels gooood right now.

We’re continuing apace with our residency at Rolling Stock where you will find us spinning sun kissed house and disco cuts every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

This month is no different, but we’ll be capturing the collective endeavour of Woys Bwoys on the BIG screen from 11pm in Rolling Stock, so to make sure you don’t have to suffer Andy Townsend’s baw chat we’ll be spinning from 6.30pm until 10.30pm. As ever the garden will be open and absorbing all the rays that come its way, so come and join us pre Copa Du Mondo!

MCDE – Raw Cuts Remixes

The MCDE Raw Cuts remixes have finally hit the shelves, and almost 6 years since Danilo Plessow, aka Motor City Drum Ensemble, brought us those dusty heartfelt US house cuts. So it’s fitting they are revisited by a Motor City (& Kiwi) ensemble. The Marcellus Pittman rework (who’s recent release on Spanish label Downbeat should also be checked) is the pick for me, with his subtle recomposition of the organ arrangement continually rolling along with that beautiful soul tinged vocal background, desperate to suck you in to a deep Detroit groove.

Grab a copy ladies and germs.
