Seuil, Le Loup – “Pap House” EP

Seuil and Le Loup front the superb Hold Youth label and are two of the fastest rising starlets of the Gallic electronic music scene. Their sound, always intricate and considered, has seen them drop EPs on the likes of Circus Company and Supplement Facts but there’s no doubt that their most promising and enticing work is released on their own imprint.

Their latest outing on Hold Youth is not a collaboration as such, instead each artist has dedicated two tracks each to make up the “Pap House” EP.

The A-Side is bestowed upon Le Loup who provides a stripped back, melodic affair with The Soul and Casquette. On the flip, Seuil gives us 2 cuts of energetic and emphatic appeal. If you like what you hear, then you can catch Seuil at Bedlam London on May 18th, more details here.

Piercing Sounds

Following on from the release of the bass stomping, earth shattering “Quivver” on Boddika’s Nonplus Recordings last month – the mighty Pearson Sound returns with his first full artist EP since “Clutch / Underdog / Piston” that dropped on Hessle Audio late last year.

This time round, David Kennedy is exploring a more experimental tip evident on REM and the beautifully ambient FIGMENT. All the while maintaining his trademark off-kilter production style with a heavy focus on tight drum programming and fat low end bass which is evident on GRIDLOCK. The pick of the bunch for me however is CRIMSON (BEAT RITUAL MIX) where sharp drums take center stage and are neatly encompassed by eerie strings and a kick drum that will knock you for six… This proper basement sheiiit is due out on vinyl and digital on 13th of May… Peep the previews below and pre-order the vinyl here.

As a bonus, Pearson Sound recently stepped up and stepped in with the next instalment in the highly acclaimed Resident Advisor Podcast. Wrap your ears around his tough yet uncompromising selection here.
