Back during the summer of 2009, if you only had one tune to soundtrack your adventures to, you could do a lot worse than Classixx’s “I’ll Get You”. It was a song you could play again and again and still dance to it whenever you heard it. Since its relase, Classixx have had minimal releases apart from a remix here or a remix there and extensive North American tour dates.

The duo have most certainly kept us in the dark for a good couple years now, but after traveling the world and settling down just long enough to string together a record, we now have Hanging Gardens, their debut full-length that has more style and production panache than we could have ever anticipated.Hanging Gardens was entirely worth the wait, and if you’re not already a fan then it is the perfect introduction to this fantastic  duo.

There are many standout tracks on the album including their edit of “I’ll Get You” as well as dance floor fillers “Dominoes” and “Holding On”.  My favourite part of this album is the fact it’s a perfect match for both listening to at home as well as out and about in the clubs. There are tracks on this album that will make you desperately want to be dancing on a sun soaked terrace, cold-beer-in-hand and others that will make you nod your head as you’re washing the dishes. It’s cool, it’s fun and and it’s especially emotional and reflective.

After several listens of this great first album, it’s clear that Classixx have carved out their signature sound even more, and what a way to do it. Big things clearly lurk on the horizon for this pair.
