So the english summer is taking its sweet fucking time in starting and I’m pretty sure that this is having a crappy knock on effect for peoples thoughts of summer London fun. Well Im here to try and get at least a bit of hype with all this gloom lingering about. (Be prepared for lots of positive adjectives.)
So regardless of the weather there are things to look forward this month and one of those yearly moments on the London calendar is the Lovebox Festival which is now in its tenth year. 2012 sees Lovebox’s programming put on an amazing breadth of musical styles across 10 separate stages and over 3 days from 15th until the 17th of June.
Take a look at the flyer above for an exhaustive list of what is on offer… there’s pretty much something for everyone and for every type of dance music enthusiast.
Our biggies though in no particular order are…
The Fact Mag presents stage seems pretty on point with 2 Bears, Blondes Live, and those hotter than hot right now boys Disclosure. Their latest EP was just released to a veritable hype tsunami so will be good to see these guys do what they do.
Saturday throws in more credible dance acts than you can possibly cram into a days worth of listening pleasure.
One of our guilty pleasures is up on the mainstage as its hard not to love a Booka Shade show… (they’ve not done anything decent in a while but their back cat is the stuff on legends. In White Rooms always brings the goosebumps)
Probably more exciting though is the Crosstown Rebels stage and is a sure fire winner with the year and a bit they’ve had release wise. The amount of times we’ve written about their releases is crazy and we are really looking forward to catching the dream team of Damien Lazarus, Maceo Plex, Art Department and Amirali.
But the choice will be hard for dance fans on Saturday as the Warm Stage will be providing the real house music line up. Packing some of their top talent on the roster including Dixon, Prosumer, Joy Orbison, Move D, Gerd Janson and Auntie Flo.
Lets revisit Dixon’s Temporary Secretary mix cd for old times sakes…
Sunday is all about the disco for us… with Chaka Khan and Chic up on the mainstage the boogie vibes are definitely set to reach a new high.
Dalston Superstore present Azari & III and then Trailer Trash & Gutter Slut will be presenting Pat Mahoney and James Murphy which we guarantee will be one of the top weekend sets.
Its beyond us how its going to be humanly possible to catch all of our top picks but to give yourself the best chance of getting in the mix we recommend buying a ticket below and shouting a big hearty fuck you to the British Weather and partying come rain or shine.
Another gem that came into the SlothBoogie mailbox recently… this is Casino Times and from the below track they make some siiiick deep bootleg tings.
That’s the Truth is a great rework of De La Soul Ft. Chaka Khan – All Good
Check out just how they’ve changed it below!:
