We have been long time supporters of the Jet Project as well as their splendid Extended Play imprint (which coincidentally is throwing a party in London in October so go check that out here). As such, following on from our previous “Discover Berlin with Luca Lozano”, we have asked this Belfast based duo to give us the low down on some of places that figure heavily in their lives so that next time you happen to frequent their neck of the woods, you’ll know where to go… Ladies and gentlemen, wrap your ears around the beefy tracks below and Discover Belfast with Jet Project…

1. Yello – Situated in the city’s blossoming Cathedral Quarter sits one hell of a venue, Mynt nightclub. Home to the popular Saturday night club Yello and also to our monthly Jet Project parties for the past two years. Some of our favourite gigs in Belfast have taken place here as we often steer the night from doors open until close. In our eyes, this is one of the best clubs in the city with easily the finest dj set up we’ve ever played on (worldwide). Did we mention there is a beer fridge in the booth?

EJECA – Extended Play EP

Ejeca is on his way to big things… and thats not just another bullshit statement to fill a couple of lines on a post… oh no… he seriously is! After a hot release on AUS with the Bicep boys he’s got some stone cold bangers on their way on House of Disco and Needwant that I’ve heard some sneeky previews of. Anyways… get him on your follow list cause his output is amazing.

His new one for Extended Play is another tasty journey through old school house vibes that are sounding oh so right these days.

Absolutely stomping mix from Belfast’s JMX who delivers an hour’s worth of the good stuff for the 2020Vision podcast series. With releases set to drop on Tsuba, One Records and 2020Vision, he is definitely one to look out for this year. The mix starts off with some fresh cuts from Huxley, JMX, Detroit Swindle and ends with some classic house moments from the likes of DJ Sneak and Lou2.

JMX – 2020Vision POD

JMX also happens to run the Extended Play label alongside Timmy Stewart, with whom he happens to tour and produce as Jet Project. The label’s output of late has been superb as they seek to push young and upcoming talent primarily out of their hometown of Belfast. Check out my pick from their recent releases below and make sure you go give them some love on their Soundcloud where they have uploaded their entire discography.

Friday Mix Mania: Juicy Fruits

Apologies for the brief hiatus from the blogosphere, fortunately head honcho Pat has been keeping tabs on what is of the gwan. Even beating me to some gems I was hoping of sharing. Not to worry, got some juicy mixes lined up for y’all…

First up is this superb selection from T-Bone on behalf of the great Extended Play mix series. No tracklisting I’m afraid but this one will get you bumping and grooving until the very end, by which point, you’re likely to hit rewind and play it again.

Next up is this great mix from Fill Yer Boots resident and all round nice guy Leisureware. His ethos behind the mix was to craft a soundtrack to suit the chillier days and colder nights and in my opinion he really hit the nail on the head.

Finally, I have been hammering this one pretty much on a daily basis. Homework’s mix for the fantastic OFF Podcast series. These chaps have cleverly crafted an identity of producers with a clear penchant for slow jams and deep dancefloor groovers. Whatever they are drinking, I’d quite like a sip…
This mix even features one of my favourite house records, the stunning Marshall Jefferson VS. Noosa Head’s – Mushroom.
