FESTIVALANTHEMS by Greg Wilson 0

Oki-ni doing the business again with their mix series… They locked Greg Wilson down for a Festival Anthems mix which I’ confident will make this grey bank holiday Monday a taste day off!
Here’s what Greg had to say about the mix:

“As part of the promotion for my upcoming Tokyo date at Rainbow Disco Club I was asked to list my top 10 festival tracks. I came up with a dozen that fitted the bill and could rightly be called anthems, having all done the business for me in a big way at some point during the past 6 or 7 years, since I started playing at festivals in the UK.

Looking for a theme for the oki-ni mix I’d just been approached to do, I glanced at this list and thought it would be interesting to hear all these climatic tracks together in one mix. All inclusions are edits, half of which I put together myself, the others courtesy of Psychemagik, Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Bermuda Triangle, Leftside Wobble and Michael Cook – classic tunes given a whole new lease of life.”

If you’re a Londoner than catch Greg Wilson on the Future Disco Jubilee Boat Party on Friday 1st June. Or if you’re clever then you can also catch him at The Garden Festival.

Eastern Electrics Festival – 4th August 2012 at Clapham Common 0

The newest and probably most exciting dance festival to appear on London’s dance calendar has come from the hugely respected Easter Electrics. These London based promoters have announced that they will will be putting on a one day 17,000 capacity event at Clapham Common that will run from 11am-10pm on the 4th August.
Check out the trailer for the event below:

The reliable Eastern Electric’s programming is evident once again for this monumental party as a quick scan through the names for the poster below shows a great snapshot of what’s really good about dance music right now. A London dance festival made by proper dance enthusiasts… there’s no Deadmau5, or Skrillex in sight! :)

As you’d expect with such caliber on show the early tickets have flown out and are all pretty much sold out with the exception of a few Saver tickets. With the general ticket price at £40 for a day’s worth of the best in dance you shouldn’t feel too put out though.

Tickets are available now on Resident Advisor and Ransom Note

One last little thing… I’m hoping that EE can get the right amount of fire power behind the speakers. SW4 Festival, which shares the same site, has been a pretty big let down in this department and made it really hard to enjoy the music down to how quiet it was. I found myself in some of tents there last year not being able to hear sets because everyone was able to chat away easily around me as the volume was so low.

THE SOUNDTRACK SET with GREG WILSON + Andy Ash Mix 0

The Queen of Hoxton are making full use of their WigWam in the sky and have brought back their film soundtrack concept with Greg Wilson to the rooftop cocoon. The Soundtrack Set launched last September with JD Twitch of Optimo re-imagining the score to the epic and legendary film ‘Baraka – A World Beyond Words’ . The screening took place on the big screen under the stars on the rooftop at the Queen of Hoxton accompanied by an open bar, bbq, directors chairs, popcorn and a good few blankets which came in handy! Following the film night was a good old basement rave until the early hours.
So expect more of the same this Friday night but with a slightly different line up and mulled cider, hot buttered rum and sausages.

Unfortunatly the rooftop viewing has now sold out but you can still get involved in the basement rave up courtesy of a GREG WILSON DJSET, LEFTSIDE WOBBLE, COSMIC BOOGIE, our good mates WOLF MUSIC, VOYEUR RYHTHM, ANDY ASH, CAPITA! and ZAMBON.
Tickets

We’ve got a pair of guestlist spaces for the basement after party up for grabs so just follow us on twitter and tell us your favourite film. We’ll pick winners on Thursday.

Oh and here’s Andy Ash’s brand new mix:

Escort – Escort 0

If you managed to escape the monster from last year that was Cocaine Blues (especially the Greg Wilson edit) then you did very well as you must be in the SAS and hidden deep in a cave somewhere. Anyways this unconventional 17 member strong Nu-Disco team that makes up Escort is releasing their very funky debut album on the 14th November. Definitely worth checking out!
Give the album minimix a little spin below if you’re in doubt.
