Well well well! After seeing these amazing line ups in Manchester pass me by year after year I finally managed to get organised enough in advance and make the trip up north last weekend. I’m very happy to report to anyone who hasn’t been yet that it is definitely as good as everyone says it is and will definitely become part of my yearly party routine!

If you’re coming from London its a pretty painless 2 hours and a bit trip up from Euston and of course being in Manchester the rain was waiting for us as soon as we got out at Picadilly.

We were staying within staggering distance of the venue and we arrived around 10ish. Good organisation meant that cues were short and we got in relatively quickly. Happy sniffer dogs were on show given the aftermath of some dodgy drugs at the beginning of the month but this didn’t put people off at all and you could sense that everyone was really excited for what lay ahead.

So what was it all like then? The word ‘epic’ would be pretty appropriate for a lot of what’s on offer.
Room 1 is effectively a vast arena. (Comparing it with a London space I would say maybe 3 Oval Spaces?)
Room 2 is row upon row of low ceilinged vaults which are soooo easy to get lost in!
Room 3 is a tighter and more compact space more on par with regular club spaces which is tucked away between Room 1 & 2 and seperated off by some butcher style plastic meat sheets.

Thinking back on the whole night I don’t think I’ve got anything bad to say about it which is a first… when compared to other big London nights there’s always something not quite right but The Warehouse Project had everything spot on.
The music was loud, toilets were clean and plentiful, there were tons of bars where the prices were reasonable which meant we all got pretty smashed.

DJ wise there was so much on show that I didn’t bother to try and plan out who to see… The only person I was definitely going to see was Motor City Drum Ensemble as I’ve missed him the last few times in London. Starting things off with his staple party disco collection he soon shifted over to the harder stuff in his record bag as the crowd swelled around us cheering him on as he dropped some tougher house, techno and acid cuts. 2 hours flew by and I gotta admit that before long things started getting a little hazy…

I do remember bumping to Bashmore for a bit in the main room and a bit of FCL in Room 3 but yeh basicly me and my mates all had a great time!?

So all in all a definite must go to event and if you missed out on this year’s tickets then make sure you’re ready for when they go on sale in 2014. I’ve been feeling rough all day today but it was all worth it and I can’t wait to go back again next year!

**Julio Bashmore’s set along with Karizma, San Soda and Jus-Ed’s will all be available via the Boiler Room just as soon they get round to putting it up.**

Here to play us out is MCDE’s last visit to London’s Boiler Room…

So its nearly time for this mega party at the now infamous Warehouse Project in Manchester. The line up is insane and every time I check it again I feel a little daunted as to whether I’ll be able to handle it or not!?

Curated by the bass house scene poster boy Julio Bashmore this night has got more fist pumping bump on one bill than I’ve ever seen before. Its long sold out now but we’ll be writing up a little review of the whole experience coming up from London the following week.

Get loose with JB’s Boiler Room fromm Los Angeles and we’ll see you down the front in 6 days time!

Warehouse Project 2013 Line-Up Announced…

BUT WHO’S MISSING?

The Warehouse Project in Manchester has had a point to prove since moving from its last venue under Manchester Piccadilly railway station, which to many is where it earned its modern cult status within UK electronic music.

This is my favourite line-up in a while- from a returning trippy Flying Lotus (accompanied again by Jamie XX, with the addition of Eliphino), to the techy rumblings of Move D and (my personal favourite) Geiser.

Every year, you get the epic “elite line-ups”, DJ’s for the masses if you will (I’m talking about Julio Bashmore, Kerri Chandler, Hot Creations lot… you get my drift).

Who’s missing though in your opinion?

These are some of mine…

1) Andre Crom
2) Timmy P
3) Detroit Swindle
4) tINI
5) Leftwing & Kody
6) Dubfire
7) Pleasurekraft
8) Marco Corola
9) Leon Vynehall

I heard Boy George is making a comeback too…that would be ace.

Overall though?

Amazing line-up, these are my best picks…
