LUCA LOZANO – B.O.N.E.S EP 0

We are big fans of the berlin based Klasse Recordings here at Slothboogie HQ, we’ve been all over the forthcoming Jordan Peak EP as you can clearly see here and are always excited to see what they have to unveil next.

Always pushing the boundaries of their unique house sound with the upmost ease, it’s time to call to arms Luca Lozano, the label head honcho with a penchant for baselines and bicycles. He returns to Klasse with his B.O.N.E.S EP, his first outing since his mammoth Thug It Out EP from last year. Here, Lozano lays down three tracks of the good stuff. Each track is drenches in his unique trademark style, thugging basslines, warm pads, and irresistible grooves. In my opinion the pick of the bunch is the superbly named “Fakie Snot Bubble”, this no frills dance floor monster is raw, stripped back house at its best. Straight up my proverbial street.

With news of a debut album circulating, now is an exciting time for Lozano and his respected Klasse imprint. I expect big things from him in the future so for now, go show him some love on his Facebook.

JAMES BRAUN – PROTO 0

Always been a fan of James Braun’s output, his previous releases on Tartelet & Jackoff ooze with rhythmic grooves and funk. He may have been a bit quiet of late but a little birdie tells me he is prepping a return to the forefront of underground clubbing. In the meantime, he is kindly giving away a track for free over on his Soundcloud. “Proto” steadily builds into a deep, driving, chuggy monster; it stays just on the right side of bizarre and it clearly epitomises the raw vibe James Braun has been championing from the offset. Ultimately, it’s free, so go cop.

As a small bonus, go grab this hour long mix recorded for Sceen.Fm alongside Tartelet head honcho Fredski. As a welcome change of pace, it’s not a club mix, it traverses jazz, hip hop, folk, highlife and more weirdness.

JMX 0

Absolutely stomping mix from Belfast’s JMX who delivers an hour’s worth of the good stuff for the 2020Vision podcast series. With releases set to drop on Tsuba, One Records and 2020Vision, he is definitely one to look out for this year. The mix starts off with some fresh cuts from Huxley, JMX, Detroit Swindle and ends with some classic house moments from the likes of DJ Sneak and Lou2.

JMX – 2020Vision POD

JMX also happens to run the Extended Play label alongside Timmy Stewart, with whom he happens to tour and produce as Jet Project. The label’s output of late has been superb as they seek to push young and upcoming talent primarily out of their hometown of Belfast. Check out my pick from their recent releases below and make sure you go give them some love on their Soundcloud where they have uploaded their entire discography.

Amirali – Falling Down 1

The mighty Crosstown Rebels are on the verge of unleashing their secret weapon onto mankind in the form of rising starlet Amirali. After taking centre stage on Damian Lazarus’ seminal Get Lost mix compilation, which was followed by the release of his deep, dark and dubby “Beautiful World” EP and a string of superb live performances at WMC 2012; there’s no doubt that Amirali is preparing a mammoth assault on dance floors with the release of his debut album “In Time” imminent. The soundscapes in this album are incredibly broad and in my opinion it’s nice to hear something come out of that camp that can actually transgresse dancefloors and become, in parts, a home listening piece. Not to say that it isn’t geared up to the club because in places, it very much is but its the diversity that I appreciate.

Not forgetting that it is his growing number of loyal followers that have put him where he is today, it would seem that by means of saying thank you, Amirali is giving away a new & unreleased track for (kinda) free on his Facebook page. The track, entitled “Falling Down” is laced with Amirali’s mesmerising and haunting vocal and is drenched in his immaculate production skills. This dancefloor destroyer will undoubtedly send hearts pulsating and arms a’raising as that sweet, soft, soppy bassline serenades you to the stars. Go grab this piece of
electronic excellence and see for yourself the impact it will have…
