SlothBoogie’s Back To The Basements Mix

Back To The Basements Mix

So thats it folks… pack up your picnic blankets, put away the sunglasses and hide those mankinis for another 7 months because it looks like summer is officially over today! Having been locked indoors all day because of the horrific weather outside I took comfort in some techno and the promise of a return to basements filled with shoulder shrugging bodies in the months to come. Here’s some deeper darker tracks to bang away the downpour this weekend.

Tim Green launches Disc Over

3gk1_sonny647S10022

Tim Green should be no stranger to any ardent follower of our humble blog, this highly talented producer has seen his inimitable sound and his ironclad skill release on the likes of Cocoon, Get Physical, Dirtybird, Circus and Klasse Recordings.

With a hearty catalogue of stellar releases under his production belt, it would only be right for Mr. Green to pursue his own endeavours as a label head. As such, Tim Green has announced the launch of Disc Over. Set to be a platform for all the multi facets of quality house and techno, the first release will be from Tim himself and will be backed by remixes from Timo Maas and My Favourite Robot.

To go with the launch of this exciting venture, there will be an incredibly special launch party which will take place in the hallowed halls of The Tunnel, a Napoleonic Fortress in Kent. The line up is stellar to say the least, not only will Tim be performing a special live set, he will be joined by Innervisions boss and deep house aficionado Dixon. Completing the line up are Luca Lozano and Mr. Ho who front the much respected Klasse Recordings imprint and will also be releasing on Disc Over.

They say good news comes in threes, as such Tim Green is giving away two never before heard original productions over here to serve as a mere taster of what to expect from the Disc Over camp.

Warehouse Project 2013 Line-Up Announced…

BUT WHO’S MISSING?

The Warehouse Project in Manchester has had a point to prove since moving from its last venue under Manchester Piccadilly railway station, which to many is where it earned its modern cult status within UK electronic music.

This is my favourite line-up in a while- from a returning trippy Flying Lotus (accompanied again by Jamie XX, with the addition of Eliphino), to the techy rumblings of Move D and (my personal favourite) Geiser.

Every year, you get the epic “elite line-ups”, DJ’s for the masses if you will (I’m talking about Julio Bashmore, Kerri Chandler, Hot Creations lot… you get my drift).

Who’s missing though in your opinion?

These are some of mine…

1) Andre Crom
2) Timmy P
3) Detroit Swindle
4) tINI
5) Leftwing & Kody
6) Dubfire
7) Pleasurekraft
8) Marco Corola
9) Leon Vynehall

I heard Boy George is making a comeback too…that would be ace.

Overall though?

Amazing line-up, these are my best picks…

Simian Mobile Disco + Bicep – Sacrifice

rowena_morrill_aztec_sacrifice [1600x1200]

The pairing of two of the fastest rising starlets of house music and two of the cornerstones of the electronic music scene can only spell delights. As such, when the news dropped today that Bicep and Simian Mobile Disco have been collaborating in the studio in the form of “Sacrifice”, well there’s no doubt you should perk up your ears and wrap’em around this beastly number.

This sweet, sultry melody is engulfed in a rugged house beat which in turn is neatly encased in a ambient wobbly bass line bringing the whole track together very nicely indeed. Get it on the pre-order before some other vinyl junkie does by clicking here
