Tiga – Planet E

On March 4th, Montreal recording artist Tiga will release the conclusion to a trilogy of albums with No Fantasy Required, a masterwork of forward-listening insanity. To find out more, we went straight to the eloquent horse-owner himself, getting him to open all the way up about the process that has made him a dance music icon for well over a baker’s decade.

“First of all, I never talk about the music itself,” he says from a youth hostel in Calgary. “It’s borderline sacrilegious to talk about the grooves. They have a language all their own, the grooves do. I just birth them and send them out into the world to make others happy. And that’s what makes me happy, and that’s what makes you happy.”

Duke Dumont – Mumble Man (For Club Play Only – Part 3)

Big Duke Dumont‘s got another club heater hitting the shelves next week. Mumble Man is taken from his forthcoming For Club Play Only Vol. III EP and is being released via Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. As the title would suggest its pretty much impossible to understand what the vocals are saying and where they could be going as they lead into the first break down. Then suddenly all makes sense as the pitch drop happens and you can’t help but get into the looped up deep voiced vocal as you try and make your own words up.

Tiga vs Audion – Fever

More mind melting music out this week comes from the brilliant collaboration between Tiga and Audion thats resulted in a gloriously deranged techno slow burner called Fever.

Matthew Dear aka Audion had this to say about how the track came about… “Tiga and I worked on Fever for an entire day, running it through various tempos, styles and arrangements, but nothing would stick. Then, sometime around 2am, it all clicked. We moved out of the way and the song essentially wrote itself. The vocal hook commanded the new direction, and after it was laid out, we slept. What you hear is that 2am perfection; only reachable when the world and your mind is asleep to all things conscious”
Can’t wait to see what else is coming from TIGA for his new album due for this year!
