Meet Cowboy Rhythmbox, who we’re already into thanks to the description of their influences as a collective love of outsider house, bargain bin cut-outs, hard drive debris, rudimentary jack trax, obscure TV themes, Euro disco, EBM, Detroit Techno, the Smith & Wesson Model 3 and horses.
The pair first met in 2001 when Nathan was working at a vinyl distributor, when Richard walked into the warehouse with his Kraftwerk / Whitney Houston sampling 7″ bootleg, ‘I Wanna Dance With Numbers’, released under the guise of Girls On Top. 5 years later they started working on ‘Shake’, finally finishing the track 4 years after that. Prolific they were not.
Now vowing to work more quickly they are pleased to be signing to the understanding Phantasy and have brought with them ‘We Got The Box’. The title track is that perfect mix of trippy looped up vocals and bouncey basslines that morphs and shifts the longer it goes on, as words just loose meaning and all you’re left with is an inability to stop dancing.
Grab the EP from November 10th on vinyl / November 17th via Juno Download / November 24th everywhere else.
